9AM-12PM: In Junior Engineers, students are introduced to fundamental mechanics and robotics concepts and simple programming, working both independently and in small groups in a fun and supportive environment with experienced instructors.
This week-long program provides students with opportunities to build and test mechanical models and robots and begin collaborating to come up with their innovative and creative solutions to challenges. Throughout each session, instructors pose open-ended questions to stimulate critical thinking and creativity, facilitate discussion, and provide support for group problem-solving. This fun-packed week allows students to get comfortable experimenting and problem-solving in a safe and supportive learning environment. ***NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE with robotics or programming is necessary.
12-1PM: Free build and (BYO) lunch
1-4PM: Calling all Minecraft builders! We are looking for the best creations throughout the various biomes of Minecraft. Each day students will learn and explore a new biome in Minecraft, looking at components both in-game as well as how they are reflected in the real world and then create a realistic structure for the environment. In addition to students learning about and creating realistic architecture in various biomes, we will discuss universal design and how to adapt a Minecraft city to make it more accessible for all. This in-person class will be done in creative mode where students can choose to create together or independently to build statues, houses, underwater vessels, cars, and whatever else comes to the imagination!
