The ideal course for students eager to understand how modern machines work! Lessons focus on simple machines that we may see every day to introduce students to the laws of physics through play! Each class session begins with an interactive lesson about a specific mechanism or simple machine, what problem led to its development, and how it has impacted daily life. Students will then build a moving model - using precisely-chosen axles and gears of different sizes - during which students are responsible for measuring and counting. Finally, to reinforce their understanding of how the mechanism operates, students are given a task during which they will experiment by making adjustments to the mechanism/machine and observing the changes.
